Mobile Pay Case System
mophie’s mobile pay case system was designed to help create a mobile check out solution for retail environments. The mobile pay cases magnetically pair a smartphone with a mobile point of sale (mPOS) device for easy handling and charging. The detachable design allows customers to finalize their purchase on the mPOS device while holding onto their payment card.
The detachable design allows the mPOS card reader to be handed to the customer to process their payment.
Early concepts tried to keep both devices permanently connected together. The payment device case would slide the side to take NFC payments via the bottom of the device.
Design refinement focused exploring attachment mechanisms that would allow the payment device to be fully separated from the iPhone case.
